Key findings
Organizations often underestimate the complexity of IAM projects and try to accomplish too much too soon, oftentimes without primarily identifying and aligning IAM goals with its value delivery for the business.
■ IAM plays a fundamental role in an organization’s cybersecurity stance and is a vital element in enabling the shift toward identity-first within a zero-trust strategy.
■ IAM leaders face the challenge of supporting multiple outcomes, such as security, compliance, business enablement, efficiency and effectiveness. Balancing these outcomes proves to be a difficult task.
■ IAM is the discipline responsible for the administration, governance, monitoring and management of human and machine identities — and there is not one simple and quick solution or tool that can neither prevent all identity attacks and misuse of privileges nor make IAM easy.
